Latitude and Longitude from GPS


No need for internet connection. Please set your GPS to use decimal degrees.

Stand at your observation site and record the location with your smartphone GPS or handheld GPS.

Then copy latitude and longitude to your report form. Please use negative (minus-sign) number for South, positive number for East e.g. lat: -16.924 lon: 145.771

There are several ways to do this.

Use Google Maps.

Pan and zoom the map until you can identify your site as accurately as possible.

Click at your site, then copy the latitude and longitude displayed on screen.

Use mygeoposition map server

In the search box type a standard geographic name near your observation site e.g. Townsville, Queensland.

Pan and zoom the map until you can identify your site as accurately as possible.

Drag the marker (pin) to that spot, then copy latitude and longitude displayed on screen.

Google Earth

Use Google Earth
You need to install Google Earth software in order to use this method.

In the search box type a standard geographic name near your observation site e.g. Townsville, Queensland.

Pan and zoom the map until you can identify your site as accurately as possible.

Click the Add Placemark button, drag the new placemark to your site, then copy latitude and longitude from  the Placemark and paste into your form.

How to correct errors in a nest report

First, please submit a cancellation request for your report that had errors.

Then submit a replacement report with correct details.
